Banking 0011

This website is aimed at all the people who can be interested in Grameen Bank, banking for the poor. A bank created by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, founded on the principals of trust and solidarity. Grameen Bank (GB) provides credit to the poorest of poor without any collateral.
In the website there is information about the bank, about the history of the bank and its founder, the methodology, books…
I found this website very interesting, it explains everything related to the project of Muhammad Yunus, who now I admire. He reasoned that if financial resources can be made available to the poor people in terms and conditions that are appropriate and reasonable, these millions of small people with their millions of small pursuits can add up to create the biggest development wonder.
I found surprising that Muhammad Yunus was born in a village in Eastern Bengal. He was the third of 14 children of whom five died in infancy. His biggest influence was his mother Sofia Khatun, who always helped any poor that knocked on their door. This inspired him to commit himself to eradication of poverty. Of the borrowers 94% are women and over 98% of the loans are paid back, a recovery rate higher than any other banking system. The Nobel Peace price for 2006 was divided in two parts, to Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank, which is an excellent recognition for such a good job.
