Nowadays Internet webs like Facebook or MySpace have turned into a mass phenomenon. These networks have harmed companies like British Airways or Virgin Atlantic. Between October and November these airlines have fired part of their flight personnel because they had criticiziced their safety measures and some of the passengers that used their services.
The personnel used these social networks to show their complaints and to to get their messages to a greater audience, taking no notice of the fact that the company has (in the case of the airline BA) a policy that prohibits the crew to filter information about them without the specific authorisation.
The airline Virgin Atlantic offers internal channels to their personnel which allow them to express their frustrations.
These alternative ways methods instead of being effective they have showed not to be effective enough to avoid the commentaries of the personnel in the social networks.
