RAM CHARAN

Ram Charan is a highly sought after business advisor and speaker, famous among senior executives for his uncanny ability to solve their toughest business problems. For more than thirty-five years, Dr. Charan has worked behind the scenes with top executives at some of the world's most successful companies, including GE, Verizon, Novartis, Dupont, Thomson Corporation, Honeywell, KLM, Bank of America, and MeadWestvaco. BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Charan's introduction to business came early while working in the family shoe shop in the small Indian town where he was raised. He earned an engineering degree in India and soon after took a job in Australia and then in Hawaii. When his talent for business was discovered, Dr. Charan was encouraged to pursue it. He earned MBA and doctorate degrees from Harvard Business School, where he graduated with high distinction and was a Baker Scholar. After receiving his doctorate degree, he served on the Harvard Business School faculty.

CORPORATE CRISIS

Dupont is an american chemical company that was founded in july 1802. Dupont is currently the world's second largest chemical company in terms of market capitalization and fourth in revenue. Although a prestigious company and leader in the U.S economic outlook, crisis would end later or sooner.

So Chad Hollidar, Dupont's CEO, summoned an emergency meeting with the important leader's of the company and they try to evaluate how financial crisis affected them. Concluded that it was time to make fast and concise decisions, for that reason he decided draw from the Corporate Crisis plan, senior managers appraise the cause of the crisis and put appropriate disaster-control procedures in place.

In this way, dupont reaction to the crisis was a short period of time, around 6 months. It’s a clear example of effective, very important now given the current time.
